<p class="wp-block-paragraph">MoldJet® technology enables the production of high-value-added components for the fashion and jewellery industries, offering a high degree of design freedom, excellent surface quality and high dimensional accuracy. The process is compatible with a wide range of metallic and ceramic materials and is scalable for both industrial and serial production. MoldJet® uses the layer-by-layer deposition of a mould material to create complex geometries, which are subsequently filled with metal- or ceramic-based suspensions. The resulting green parts feature high density and excellent green strength, allowing for reliable handling, transportation and post-processing operations prior to sintering. Following binder removal and sintering, fully dense components can be produced in precious metals such as silver, gold and platinum, as well as in advanced ceramic materials such as black zirconia. The suspension-based approach ensures a highly homogeneous feedstock and uniform microstructure, resulting in consistent shrinkage behaviour and high dimensional accuracy. One of the key advantages of MoldJet® technology is its ability to process small quantities of high-value precious metals cost-effectively, while minimising material waste and inventory requirements. In addition, the process enables the production of lightweight, hollow structures with fully enclosed internal cavities that are difficult or impossible to manufacture using conventional casting or machining processes. This presentation explores the potential of MoldJet® technology and highlights its role as an innovative manufacturing platform for the production of jewellery and luxury goods.</p>

By enabling the production of complex, high-value-added products, these technologies help reduce development and manufacturing times and costs, while at the same time improving resource efficiency and significantly reducing waste. The growing pervasiveness of Artificial Intelligence technologies represents a further enabling factor that is set to shape manufacturing competition in the years ahead, expanding opportunities for innovation across the entire value chain. In a constantly evolving environment, the creative industries — and the jewellery sector in particular — cannot overlook this technological dimension if they are to address future challenges by combining innovation, sustainability and design freedom.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If technology makes everyone capable of doing almost anything, what still makes a designer unique? This is the question I start from to explore how our role in the jewellery world is evolving at a time when artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing and augmented reality are rapidly transforming workflows, processes and creative possibilities. Enabling technologies make us faster, help us overcome our limitations and amplify what we want to express. But this is not always enough. True innovation is driven by adoption, improvement and a shift in perspective. It becomes meaningful only when it changes the way we design, not simply the speed at which we do it. And yet, in this race, we have lost something: a sense of wonder. The anticipation of seeing something actually made. We have normalised the extraordinary, almost making it commonplace. On screen, everything is possible, infinite and immediate — and, for that very reason, ultimately intangible. In doing so, we have made what remains genuinely human even more valuable: a pencil sketch, a model, an object shaped by our own hands and our own time. This is where additive manufacturing reveals its deeper nature. It is not merely a tool for production, but a way of gaining a better understanding of what we want to create. The transition from simulation to physical form gives us back an object we can touch, turn and weigh — and, with it, a part of the sense of wonder we thought we had lost. Giving concrete form to design ideas quickly means reconnecting with a new kind of craftsmanship, in which people and machines collaborate according to a 5.0 approach: printing does not replace the hand; it gives it a new workbench. Today, everyone designs and everyone can create, regardless of individual talent. The barrier to entry has never been lower, and we still do not know whether this will add value or simply create more background noise in a world that already has plenty of it. It is becoming increasingly difficult to choose among a multitude of options that we have not directly created ourselves and that all seem equally valid. In a world where social media becomes a source of inspiration and algorithms decide where our eyes are directed, we are edging towards indistinguishability. The challenge is not to produce more variations, but to find a way beyond them: to choose through experience, through that accumulation of mistakes and solutions that may seem unnecessary today, but is in fact what gives us direction. Because in a world where AI can imitate not only the work itself, but even its creator, what becomes truly valuable is the process: who made it, how they got there, and why they chose that particular path. We should reclaim our own style and emphasise the subtle differences that the human hand can bring to each individual piece. We should humanise technology: use it, rather than simply allowing ourselves to be emulated by it. The future of design will not be technological alone: it will be human, documented and responsible.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The presentation explores the topic of sustainability communication in the jewellery industry, examining how companies can effectively and credibly communicate their ESG journey in the context of transparency requirements, European regulations and stakeholder expectations. Through the case of LEGOR Group (which will be anonymised or, alternatively, replaced with another corporate case supported by ESGCapital), the presentation will illustrate the experience of preparing an integrated report and the evolution of the standards adopted, from the GRI Standards to the new VSME framework. The session will also address issues such as greenwashing, ESG reporting and upcoming regulatory developments, with the aim of highlighting how authentic sustainability communication can become a strategic driver of competitiveness and value creation in the jewellery industry.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the end of January 2026, the main precious metals reached new all-time highs, marking the culmination of a rally that began with gold in 2022, as escalating geopolitical tensions prompted central banks and investors to increase their purchases of these safe-haven assets. Since February, however, gold and precious metal prices have come under downward pressure, driven by a combination of factors. These include the decline in demand volumes from the jewellery sector due to the high prices reached by raw materials, a reassessment of monetary policy expectations, and the outbreak of the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States. The war in the Middle East has severely affected one of the world’s major gold-consuming regions and has had a negative impact on investor sentiment, as investors have sought greater liquidity to cope with rising energy costs and the resulting inflationary risks.</p>

Geopolitical uncertainty, international tensions, and the instability of U.S. trade policies have driven gold prices significantly higher, with repercussions for international demand. Global demand for gold jewellery declined by 18% in volume terms in 2025, with an even sharper contraction in the first quarter of 2026, when it fell by 24%. Following the significant growth recorded in recent years, the Italian gold and jewellery industry experienced a 5.0% decline in turnover in 2025. The analysis focuses on the latest available evidence regarding current market conditions in the sector, with particular emphasis on performance in international markets and the main strategic directions that may guide companies operating in the Italian gold and jewellery industry.</p>
