MoldJet Technology®: from Slurry to Advanced Jewelry Manufacturing

MoldJet® technology enables the production of high-value-added components for the fashion and jewellery industries, offering a high degree of design freedom, excellent surface quality and high dimensional accuracy. The process is compatible with a wide range of metallic and ceramic materials and is scalable for both industrial and serial production. MoldJet® uses the layer-by-layer deposition of a mould material to create complex geometries, which are subsequently filled with metal- or ceramic-based suspensions. The resulting green parts feature high density and excellent green strength, allowing for reliable handling, transportation and post-processing operations prior to sintering. Following binder removal and sintering, fully dense components can be produced in precious metals such as silver, gold and platinum, as well as in advanced ceramic materials such as black zirconia. The suspension-based approach ensures a highly homogeneous feedstock and uniform microstructure, resulting in consistent shrinkage behaviour and high dimensional accuracy. One of the key advantages of MoldJet® technology is its ability to process small quantities of high-value precious metals cost-effectively, while minimising material waste and inventory requirements. In addition, the process enables the production of lightweight, hollow structures with fully enclosed internal cavities that are difficult or impossible to manufacture using conventional casting or machining processes. This presentation explores the potential of MoldJet® technology and highlights its role as an innovative manufacturing platform for the production of jewellery and luxury goods.
